Meagan’s Walk 2008 on Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 11th
Volunteers have played a key role in making Meagan’s Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope a dynamic and spirited community event. Without their support, Meagan’s Walk simply could not take place!
New volunteers are needed to help with the growing needs of Meagan’s Walk. Volunteers give time, share their expertise, creativity and dedication.
Meagan’s Walk organizes and hosts three major fundraising events each year: the Walk event on Mother’s Day, the annual Meagan’s Walk Dinner and Dance Gala and the Golf Tournament. Volunteers are critical to the success of each of these special events. With your help, we can make a difference!

Dinner and Dance Gala
On February 22, 2008 Meagan’s Walk will host the sixth annual Meagan’s Walk Dinner and Dance Gala. This special evening, at the beautiful Liberty Grand, is the official “kick off” leading up to the Mother’s Day Walk. Volunteers are needed to help with the detailed planning and the many tasks that ensure that the Dinner and Gala will be an enjoyable evening for all! We also need volunteers for the night of the event.
The volunteers of this planning committee work often in small groups dedicated to various aspects of organizing this event, and report back to the whole committee, at regularly scheduled meetings.
Volunteer committee members assist with all aspects of event preparation and execution, including:
- Design of program, promotional materials, tickets - Ticket and corporate table sales - Solicitation of Dinner and Dance Gala corporate sponsorships - Co-ordination of live and silent auction - Decorations - Entertainment - Event fundraising, such as Diamond Cocktail hour - Promotion of the Dinner and Dance Gala

Meagan’s Walk 2008
On May 11th, 2008 Meagan’s Walk will host the sixth annual Meagan’s Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope. This 5km Walk begins at Ontario Place and ends with a human hug around The Hospital for Sick Children – sharing one big hug with all the children and the families within.
Our volunteers assist in numerous ways, on Mother’s Day and throughout the year, and include:
  • Volunteers who sit on the Meagan’s Walk organizing committee and help plan the event
  • Office volunteers who assist with preparation and distribution of promotional materials, posters, pledge sheets
  • Registration volunteers, who welcome participants and ensure contact and pledge information is completed
  • Walk route marshal volunteers who are stationed along the Walk route, to guide participants, assist as needed, and offer encouragement!
  • Food service volunteers both at the beginning and the end of the Meagan’s Walk route, assist with distribution of food and water to the Walk participants.
  • Volunteers who work within their own family, community or workplace group and develop “Walk Teams”, often in honour and support of someone special who is struggling with illness. See Walk Team tab.
Volunteers contribute their time and talents – their generosity is key to Meagan’s Walk. All our volunteers, together, are the “Hug Team”!
