Each year, a clinical researcher in neuro-oncology is invited to join the Brain Tumour Research Centre team for a year long Fellowship in paediatric brain tumour research. Funded by Meagan's Walk, the Fellowship advances research and fosters collaboration with international research institutions. Researchers continue to discover more and more subtypes of rare brain tumours. International partnerships built through the Fellowship program help researchers better understand these tumours and make progress in the development of targeted treatments and improved incomes.
In 2005, Meagan’s Walk established the Meagan Bebenek Endowment Fund, currently valued at over $2 Million. The annual investment return is approximately $95K and funds the Meagan’s Walk Neuro-Oncology Fellowship.

2014/15
DR. ALVARO LASSALETTA,SPAIN
Dr. Lassaletta evaluated the efficacy and feasibility of reirradiation (radiating again at relapse) in patients with DIPG, an incurable tumour.
Studying the molecular characterization of low grade gliomas, Dr. Nobre explored the feasibility of liquid biopsy to better determine response to new targeted therapies.
Dedicated to understanding malignant brain tumours in the central nervous system, Dr. Baroni focuses her research on clinical management and treatment of high risk patients and clinical-biological correlations.
Dr Das is currently focussing his research on an increasingly recognised cancer predisposition syndrome for children with brain tumours, known as the Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency Syndrome (CMMRD), where tumours do not get cured by traditional chemo and radiotherapy approaches.
